Obama in Puerto Rico!!

"Hóla, Puerto Rico! How's everybody doing today?" Obama shouted to a crowd gathered in Old San Juan, before he led dancing supporters along the seaside battlements for a raucous caminata, the traditional candidate parade. "I am thankful, I am grateful. . . . If we do well in Puerto Rico, there is no reason I will not be announcing that I am the Democratic nominee for president of the United States of America!"

"Hispanics are big proponents of improving your life and advancing yourself through education, and that's his life story," said Freddy Balsera, a Florida political consultant who is helping lead Obama's Hispanic outreach in the state. "When he starts explaining that to Hispanic voters, they're going to connect to him."... More on this story here...

Your E-Trash Is This Company's Treasure

Nathan Zack's computer business has classic tech startup roots: his mother's Farmington Hills, Mich., garage when he was 18 years old. This entrepreneurial success story, though, is far from the glamor of the Silicon Valley. Great Lakes Electronics' share last year was 30 million pounds and projects 50 million pounds recycled this year.

Oil Prices Keep Climbing: 5 Tips to Save Money on Gas

A b5media article by Miranda Marquit caught my eye... So, open yours!

"Why are oil prices rising? And how can you save money on gas? Oil prices breached $130 a barrel this morning. Yesterday they prompted a sell-off on Wall Street. And across the country they are affecting people’s every day activities. But why are oil prices climbing? Didn’t the Saudis up production at the request of President Bush? Isn’t the US going to stop stockpiling? Shouldn’t this supply help keep oil prices lower?"

Einstein's Last Words on Faith

A letter being auctioned in London this week adds more fuel to the long-simmering debate about the Nobel prize-winning physicist's religious views.

In the note, written the year before his death, Einstein dismissed the idea of God as the product of human weakness and the Bible as "pretty childish." Full article...

The letter includes the following quotes: "the word God is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honorable but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish" and "For me, the Jewish religion like all other religions is an incarnation of the most childish superstitions".

So, what do you think of that?! The greatest mind to have ever lived "supposedly" denied faith in a Creator and called the Bible a bunch of rubbish in a note before he died. Now, my opinion is only that; my opinion. But, how can someone that changed the world with his discoveries and his unraveling of the mysteries of the universe with his theory of relativity could possibly come to that conclusion. He practically saw God face to face. Is the letter being auctioned legit? Who will ever know...

The 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck central China sending in a rush thousands to safety at about 60 miles northwest of Chengdu at 2:28 p.m. . Telephone and power networks, and even state media appeared to have few details of the disaster. Communications were disrupted causing a larger panic.

The U.S. Geological Survey warned it be "a dangerous earthquake" because of its proximity to very populated areas.

Torandoes Ripping Through Picher, Oklahoma

"A tornado ripped through a 20-block swath of Picher late Saturday afternoon, killing at least seven people. The same storm system then moved into southwest Missouri where tornadoes took the lives of at least 12 others, authorities said." Full Article...

FoxNews reports on the bizarre storms and tornadoes that caused excessive damage, and up to 20 deaths while ripping through the city of Picher, Oklahoma. Highway Patrol Lt. George Brown said Picher's victims included an infant.

Some blame Global Warming, while others claim the prophecies of the Bible are coming true. While the argument is settled, what will we do against the obviously unavoidable forces of nature that have begun to claim more than just land and property: lives, including a defenseless infants. Technology at it's peak and we can't be warned beforehand? The anomalies will continue and still no answers. Any comments?

Tomorrow is Mother's Day

So, here I sit blogging when my sisters are all heading up to get together at my aunt's house with my mom for Mother's Day. So, how do I feel? Guess!

I feel bad, of course. I'm always the one missing in the get-togethers and the special events. But, I am proud to say that I'm the only one that is in constant contact with everyone (always calling and texting). But, I pretty much spend those special days alone with my two girls.

I know that I choose to live this distant, but I also accept that it's not healthy. It's not good to be too involved with your family (for sanity reasons!) but to be this distant is not either.

Does anyone have any thoughts? Which do you consider better? Or do you have any suggestions?

Graduating? The Best Companies To Get You Started

As an online student at Penn State Universities World Campus in Information Sciences & Technology, finding the best companies that offer opportunities to those in my graduating position is very important. Many graduates end up, sadly, having to work in jobs that have nothing to do with their career goals until they get their "big break". But, thanks to Lindsey Gredes a young staff editor and writer for Business Week, we have a full list of companies that are giving fresh graduates the "big break" they seek. The list has been updated accordingly by Ms. Gredes and you will find the full articles here...

I'm Hooked on Smallville

This reinterpretation of the Superman franchise features a teenage Clark Kent struggling to come to grips with his emerging superpowers in Kansas. He must hide his abilities from Lana Lang, the girl of his dreams and from his friend Lex Luthor, who will one day become Superman's nemesis. Complicating matters is the presence of kryptonite throughout Smallville, which causes strange mutations in locals and cripples Clark. David Nutter ("The X-Files") is among the executive producers of the action/adventure drama.

I am absolutely in love with Smallville! Who knows, maybe I'm one of the many that won't admit they wish Superman truly existed. But, one thing is obvious; the cast is hot, the story line keeps getting better, and we the fans can't wait to see Clark flying!

Working From Home Is Possible

Work-at-Home!!! Internet!! Money!! Scams have been around as long as the internet itself. So, what can old fogies and the not too clever do? First of all, continue to read this article. Second, become knowledgeable. Knowledge is power.

The way our daily lives are being forged by the ever advancing world of technology, we need a heads up and now. Most of us have worked many years in brick buildings, with cubicles as walls of separation, and have shed tears every time we got our paycheck. But, I have news for you! You can work from home, at home, from your laptop, anywhere you want! The internet may not be your cup of tea, but if you're anything like me, you like advancement, and do not accept being left behind.

I will be 31 this year and most of you are thinking, "What?! She's still young!” The problem is: I'm not. According to the statistics involving the ever growing amount of on-campus and online college graduates that will be coming into the workforce arena between 2009 and 2010, I am pretty much an over-aged and high-maintenance employee that needs replacing. The replacement will be younger, faster, and will accept a minimal salary for their contributions. Unlike, the most of us; it’s the reality and it must be faced.

So, I am not the young, sassy girl that I used to be but I have lots more to offer. What to do now? This is where the ability to make money and work from home comes in. I've been researching, for the past year, and found many channels for this great, flexible, and accessible opportunity. I have a 3 year old, and honestly, I wanted to stay home with her (I wasn't able to with my eldest). Wanting to stay home and the need for money became my obsession. Now, I want to share the best sites, companies, and resources with you because I've been there and done that. And, I’ve been there and done that, again.

*Some advice before I continue to share my treasures: if you are not an expert in something, on a subject, with any particular thing, do not pretend to be. Truthfully speaking, you must be a present or ex-executive, corporate, or have vast experience in the area or career level in the position you are attempting to work from home as. Work at home is not an easy way to overpass education and experience. True work at home will come because of these and will bring about great offers from great companies.

The window of opportunity which has opened for those that fulfill the requirements requested will find that companies are ready to make offers.
